Works just like I expectedJust received by Hatori meter and put it through the tests. I have an indoor urban containerized garden in my office partially lit by a window and partially by various grow lights. My different containers have different soils which have been amended specifically for various vegetables and strawberries. This meter did a great job at showing accurate light levels at different spots and seemed to be reasonably accurate at my moisture levels at various depths. The big pleasant surprise though was that it actually reads a difference between my containers pH levels and knowing my soils as I do it was in the ballpark. Two prong analog meters are notorious for sucking at reading pH but out of the box at least this Hatori is worth it. How long it will work is anybody's guess but as a newbie its a winner. This item is incredibly easy to use. I cannot attest to it's accuracy, but based on the ingredients in my homemade planting mix, it appears to be in the ballpark for ph and moisture. The light meter also appears to work although I cannot confirm it's accuracy either, but it does certainly show an increase when moved closer to the light source. I used to use a professional system for ph and ec while employed as a grower in the greenhouse industry. It was very labor intensive and time consuming. This device gives an apparently accurate rating nearly instantly. Hopefully it will last several seasons with proper care. It's simply a matter of cleaning the probes after each use. I like it.I got my meter today and immediately set it to hygrometer mode and stuck it into a cup of water. The needle went up to 6 on the 10 scale and stayed there for half an hour showing "Moist". At that point I terminated the wet test. Is there anything wetter than pure water? Then, being spurred by the wet test I set it on "light" and stuck it under a fluorescent light about 3 feet from the light source. The handy little meter showed "0" lumens where it says "Dark." Encouraged by these results I stuck it under a halogen lamp 1 foot away from the light source and it showed 1000 lumens. Maybe I will stay away from the pH test not to get discouraged further.Maybe the vendor can enlighten me why water is not wet enough and why fluorescent light is "dark?"I have several is these meters and use them all of the time. I have 3 indoor trees and they need to be monitored for dryness as they decline with excess watering. I have been using these meters and the trees are growing very well. The probes are long enough so that I can insert them 4-5 inches deep in the soil to assess the moisture. Take care inserting the probes if the soil is packed. I have not had problems, but my soil is not packed down.Easy to use. All three functions work fine one the one I received. The only thing to consider is the accuracy of the meter readings. No way to tell unless you had a lab grade meter to compare to. I bought mine to keep an eye on the ph in my worm bin, so a ball park estimate is good enough.Seems to work great. No idea on accuracy.Real easy to use. No batteries to worry about. My only complaint is that the solar panels in a bad spot and doesn't give you a clear reading indoors.
